Congress 2007
Details of Main Congress
23rd February 2007
Innaugural Function Time: 3pm
Main Congress
Time: 4pm - 5.30pm
Dr. Dennis Tarnow [USA]
Topic: Save Or Extract The Tooth In The Esthetic Zone
The decision to save or extract a tooth in the esthetic zone is one of the more complex decisions that a practitioner can make. A tooth with a compromised prognosis may require periodontal regeneration, soft tissue grafting, endodontic, orthodontic and/or other therapies. Extraction and implant therapy may involve papillary loss, insufficient bone, spacing and esthetic issues. There are also financial and psychological factors to consider. This session will focus on what should and should not be done in the esthetic zone, and how to best treat this area with a multidisciplinary approach.
Time: 5.30pm - 7pm
Dr. Michael Sonick [USA]

24th February 2007
Time: 8.30am - 10am
Dr. Giuseppe Cantatore (Italy)
Topic: The use of MTA in non surgical Endodontics
Time: 10.30am - 12pm
Dr. Nitzan Bichachao [Israel]
Topic: Parameters for periimplant tissue integration through a prosthetic prism
This lecture will depict cutting edge treatment modalities to obtain optimal conditions, utilizing innovative techniques and materials toward functional and natural-looking implant restorations. Diverse treatment plans and step-by-step clinical procedures will be explored - from diagnostic models through provisional restoration therapy to the optimal definitive implants restorations. Challenging cases of restored single, adjacent and multiple implant restorations in the aesthetic zone, where the soft tissue topography has been redesigned to its optimal healthy and aesthetic condition, will be critically analyzed and discussed.
Time: 3pm - 4.30pm
Dr. Ady Palti [Germany]
# "Diplomate" of the International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI).
# Honorary member and past president of the European Academy of Oral Implantology.
# Founder and past president of the study club "Implantology and Modern Dentistry" Nordbaden, Germany.
# Involved in experimental and clinical research in the field of implant dentistry. His main research fields are immediate implant placement and immediate loading on implants, bone quantity and density, bone augmentation materials and membrans, and 3D-computernavigation.
# Lecturer on various international congresses since more than 10 years.
# Editor-in-Chief of the "Compendium Implantology"
Topic: Teeth in an Hour - Realitiy or Vision?
The expectations of our patients concerning perfect aesthetics, functionality and phonetics demands a high standard of implant skills. Today's patients are also expecting to have an immediate restoration after loosing their teeth. Although the success rate of 90-95 is impressive, we should try to avoid the 5 to 10 percent failures and complications. The new technique of 3D planning and navigation could bring us closer to this goal. By using a CT which is fed into the computer in digital form, the dentist is able to carry out perfect implant planning. Both, the position of the implants in the vicinity of anatomical structures and the future prostheses can be planned
Time: 5pm - 6.30pm
Dr. Juan Carlos Lopez Alvarez [Mexico]
Adjunt Assistant Professor, Department of Implant Dentistry, Division of Reconstructive and Comprehensive Care, New York University; Felow, International Congress of Oral Implantologists; Faculty, Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) and Universidad de Guadalajara, México; Private Practice in Guadalajara-México.
Topic: The Interplay Between Orthodontics, Periodontics, Restorative and Implant Dentistry: Maximizing Clinical Realities and Patient Satisfaction
The incorporation of orthodontics in our daily practice can maximize the predictability of both function and aesthetics. The important features of comprehensive dentistry to meet the changing needs of our patient population will be discussed at length. This program will review the etiology, diagnosis, treatment planning and sequence of treatment options for multidisciplinary cases. Various clinical cases will demonstrate different strategies to achieve successful long-term results. The aesthetic management of these situations will be included in the discussion.
25th February 2007
Time: 8.30am - 10am
Dr. Daniel Edelhoff [Germany]
Topic: Creating predictable clinical results with new all-ceramics
Predictable esthetics of the final restoration necessitates the approach of clinical and technical aspects in teamwork between dentist and dental technician. A systematic concept includes a meticulous treatment planning resulting in a diagnostic wax-up, which determines material selection, tooth preparation, soft tissue management, and provisionalization. Provisional restorations play an essential role in the communication between patient and the dental restorative team and will improve the predictability of the final result.
Given to the permanently increasing variety of all-ceramic systems the presentation will provide proven treatment concepts based on clinical studies including correct material selection dependent on the individual clinical situation.
Time: 10.30am - 12pm
Dr. Dario Adolfi (Brazil)
Topic: Fundamental Criteria for a Perfect Esthetic Integration
This lecture will describe in detail how this optimal treatment can be performed, based on the advancement of implant development and the Procera technology.
Time: 2.30pm - 4pm
Dr. Joao Carames [Portugal]
# Associate Professor and Chairnan of the Division of Occlusion and Oral Rehabilitation - Lisbon Dental Medicine University
# Director of the Implant Institute Lisbon
# Postgraduated in Prosthodontics and Oral Implants New York University College of Dentistry
# Member of the Biomaterials Research Institute Lisbon - FMDUL
# Publish and lecture extensively national and internationally
# Private practice limited to Aesthetics and Oral Implantology
Topic: Full Mouth Rehabilitation: Immediate function and immediate aesthetic - our present challenge
The purpose of this presentation is to review immediate function techniques and to explore controversies of its associated risk factors: simultaneous immediate placement and grafting, position and number of implants, quality and quantity of bone, prosthetic design and micromovements control. It will be shown how all these features may lead to safer clinical procedures, simpler treatment protocols and enhanced aesthetics.
Time: 4pm - 5.30pm
Dr. Mark Pitel [USA]
Topic: Adhesion dentistry and root canals - the perfect combination
Most dentists and endodontists would probably conclude that the current clinical success rate in root canal therapy is satisfactory. Yet when critically analyzed, numerous clinical studies show exactly the opposite. Though there may be many causes for these failures there is general agreement that reinfection due to lack of a complete apical and coronal seal is the most common reason root canals fail. Since about 1867, gutta percha has been accepted as the bench mark material for obturating root canals. But does this material really provide us with the best seal possible? Is it even capable of sealing at all?
This presentation will introduce you to the first significant advance in the obturation of root canals in over 100 years. By combining the knowledge, technology and experience that we have gained in adhesion dentistry and fiberpost technology it is now possible to simultaneously create a perfect seal of the root canal while structurally reinforcing the root against fracture. The result is a safer, more reliable and more efficacious endodontic outcome. Several cutting edge obturation products have already incorporated this new technology and launched us into the "Adhesive Endodontic" Revolution. Also covered will be a brief introduction to some exciting advances in endodontic instrumentation that combine with adhesive obturation to make doing root canals easier and more enjoyable than ever before.
